Investments and Properties El Tucan has a major focus on farms, development properties, businesses, forested lands, homes, and building sites in the Northern Zone of Costa Rica. This region encompasses a large area from San Ramon and Cuidad Quesada north to the Nicaragua border. The region includes major tourist destinations such as Arenal Volcano, several national parks, and the adventure tourism of Sarapiqui.
Farms for sale in this area are generally priced much lower than in areas that have received more attention from foreign investors. Sprinkled throughout the zone are farm communities that can provide you a glimpse of the traditional Costa Rica.
Dale Johnson, Agricultural and Development Specialist, works with several regionally located agents.
Deiber Camacho specializes in farms, homes, and building sites in nature in the area of San Lorenzo, north of San Ramon, and extending toward La Fortuna. Of particular interest here are large properties in the mountains north of San Ramon suitable for tourism or dairy. An example is 250 hectare spread with three rivers and four waterfalls, half in pasture, excellent for dairy or subdivision into lots or small farms, and half in protected virgin forest. San Carlos is the major agricultural area of Costa Rica with a good climate, flat to rolling land, and abundant rainfall. There are huge extensions of land in pineapple for export, juice oranges, yuca and other root crops, tropical fruits, timber, and sugar cane for ethanol. There remain a good number of cattle farms that are subject to conversion to more productive activity in agricultural crops. We are working on a project for conversion of under-utilized cattle land to production of Jatropa oil seed for bio-diesel, a crop with great potential.
An example of a farm for sale at an inexpensive per hectare price and that is apt for conversiont to bio-diesel or citrus crops is this one.
Sarapiqui is an area of adventure tourism and biological reserves. Our vacation and relocation tour staff, Kelcey Johnson and Juan Salazar, are available for either property viewing or organizing an exciting vacation.
Both San Carlos and Sarapiqui are good locations for fish farming, tilapia in the warmer climates and trout in the cooler mountains. We also offer Nicoya shrimp farms. For information on aguaculture see the section on agricultural investments (click here) .

While the Northern Zone is the main focus of our activity, we also offer a wide selection of properties in other areas of Costa Rica. The numerous micro climates in the different areas of Costa Rica provide fertile environments for almost any agricultural product you can imagine. If you have a product in mind, contact us so that we may assist you in implementing its production in the appropriate area of Costa Rica.
